Mental Health Toolkit

Supporting student health and wellbeing is an important factor in academic success. This Toolkit is designed to support staff in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of their students, within the boundaries of their professional role.

It aims to help staff build their confidence and capacity to recognise observable signs of distress or declining wellbeing in students, respond appropriately, and know when and where to refer students for further support.

The Toolkit is organised into sections covering both common and more challenging situations that staff may encounter. Each section includes brief information about the topic, student behaviours staff may observe, and practical advice and strategies to use in the classroom.

It also highlights a range of support options available to students, including digital tools such as the MindED App, which staff may wish to recommend where appropriate.
